1 I now enclose a cheque to amount of lemma start£ 10 being the sum agreed upon for rights of translationkommentar.

2 I have ordered lemma startmy publisherkommentar to send a copy of the tales & by this post. I also forward two others.|| No one can be more aware than myself how inadequately the translation has been done, & how much of the original charm has been lost. The work has been a genuine pleasure to myself, kindly excuse its many shortcomings.

3 The greater number of the tales have not before been published in English|| & as I daresay you will notice the edition is a much more costly one than has hitherto appeared.

4 Trusting that the work may meet with a slight measure of your approbation.
